COREconnection: The Top 5 Lies of Perfectionism

So I know this is a little off topic of my COREministries focus of faith and fitness, however, I thought this article was worth sharing. Often, in fitness AND in faith, we fail to try something for fear of failure. We do not sign up for the charity 5K because we don’t know “how” to do it, we won’t go to the spin/yoga/Pilates/strength classes because we are afraid we will not be able to do it perfectly…people will laugh, judge, feel sorry for us. Similarly, we do not share our faith, pray out loud, stop to help someone in need because we are not sure we can do it exactly right…what if we screw it all up?

As you read this article which focuses on the Lies of Perfectionism that hinder our growth in faith, consider how similar lies about perfectionism also hinder us in fitness.

Whether we are on a quest for physical perfection (which is not obtainable) or we have given up trying to be physically fit because we are so far from perfectionism (newsflash: we all are!!), do not let the fact that you are not perfect keep you from strengthening your body so that you can use it to strengthen your faith!

After all, we might not be able to be perfect (without flaw) but we can strive to be perfected (made complete) through HIM who gives us strength. (Phil. 4:13)
