In many physical therapy facilities, the Pilates method is used to rehabilitate patients who have suffered a physical injury to the muscles and/or joints. There are many reasons for this. According to an article on www.everything-about-pilates.com, “Pilates rehabilitation works for many reasons. The great attention to detail and form is a perfect way for a client to gain strength in the weaker or injured muscles and joints. Pilates is gentle on the joints, so there is little worry of over stressing an already stressed body. Pilates also develops the smaller muscle groups that work to support joints and bony structures. And because Pilates builds a bodily awareness to balance, chronically weak and imbalanced muscles become equally strong.”
In addition to increasing strength and flexibility, Pilates also serves to prevent injury by developing the CORE strength of the body to maintain proper alignment and recruit proper muscle activation.
Still don’t think you need some “rehab”? Let’s take a closer look at the definition to see how “rehab” can help YOU!
v. To restore to good health or useful life.
So ‘rehab’ isn’t just about being hurt or sick, but it’s about RESTORATION! Do you feel like your body is “useful” to you OR does it hinder your ability to be useful? Maybe you do manage to get through your day, but do you feel GOOD at the end of it?
What about your faith? Is it time for some faith rehab? Are you in need of RESTORATION to bring your faith back to good health? to have your faith be useful not just for you, but in order to serve God?
If you are feeling like its time to REHABILITATE your faith OR your fitness, please consider joining COREministries for the FALL COREpilates SESSION! We will explore some of the basics of Pilates as it is used for physical rehabilitation (such as alignment, flexibility, stability, efficiency) and search God’s Word for how these same principles can REHABILITATE the CORE of our faith!
Please join us on SEPTEMBER 8th at SOUTHSIDE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH from 6:30-7:30pm UPSTAIRS in the Adult Education Bldg. for a brief intro to COREpilates! For more information on the FALL Session, look under the ACTIVATE THE CORE: Events Tab or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
