The other day in CORE class, we were discussing the connection between the Transverse Abdominals (the inner most ab muscle group) and the Pelvic Floor Muscles (we all know where those are!). I found this brief article that gives a simple description of the link between these two muscle groups and the importance of strengthening the “TVA” muscles for overall protection and support of the body as we age.
Where can you learn exercises to strengthen these CORE muscles?
Well, Pilates exercises, CONSTANTLY call on you to engage the Transverse Abdominals while most other ab exercises merely work the outer ab groups (the “six pack”-rect. abdominis and obliques).
