The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. Psalm 45:11
A couple of weeks ago we listed several reasons people exercise. The TOP on the list was “to be physically attractive”. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all want to be “attractive”…to be beautiful. The problem with this as our motivation for exercise is that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” so your beauty changes based on who is looking at you. Well, at least that is true of us humans…in our society, standards of beauty change often and from culture to culture. Now that we live in a global society connected by social media, the standard of beauty can change even within our own sphere of influence…what was beautiful a few years ago is no longer. Nevertheless, every woman I know longs for beauty…to experience it, to feel it, to be seen as beautiful. But if that changes depending on who is looking…how do we know when we are beautiful?
Well, first, it would be helpful if we had a standard that never changed. Numbers 23:19 tells us, “God is not a man, that he should lie,nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.” God created us, in His image. He tells us in Psalm 45:11 that He is ENTHRALLED with our beauty. This does not change nor is it a mere compliment to make us feel better. God does not lie, He does not change His mind.
We are beautiful, this we know, for the Bible (God’s Word) tells us so.
When we exercise we ought not to be looking at the world’s standard of beauty than changes day by day. Instead, we should know that we are already found beautiful in God’s eyes and exercise our LIVES to maintain HIS neverending, always truthful standard of beauty. Come back next week to hear more about how God sees beauty
