Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’ (Ezekiel 37:4-6)
It is my great pleasure to announce another NEW weekly blog feature “OUT of the Valley of Dry Bones”. Each week, one blog post will be devoted to sharing Scriptures, Prayers, and Biblical Truths in order to encourage, support, and lead others out of the Valley of their struggle with eating disorders. I took the name of this new blog from Ezekiel 37 where we hear the Lord, through Ezekiel’s prophesy, bring dry, lifeless bones back from a valley of death and built them into a strong, vast army!
If you are feeling lifeless, tired, weak, and spread out in a valley of dry deserted life…do you need the reviving, life-giving breath of God to bring you back? I hope you will join me on this journey OUT of the Valley and into a land of PROMISE.
We will start this weekly post next week, but before we do, here are some “tools” that you might find useful for our journey:
1. A Bible (www.biblegateway.com will work!)
2. A Concordance ( if you don’t have a hard copy, you can try: http://www.biblestudytools.com/concordances/ they have several online versions)
3. A journal (of course, you can just use your computer, but I find that sometimes writing things down can be helpful for memory)
4. *BONUS: Here is a list of Christian songs that I have found helpful along the way:
“I will not Be Moved”– Natalie Grant
“Lose my Soul”– Toby Mac
“This is the Air I breathe” or “Breathe”— Michael W. Smith (and other artists)
“East to West” —Casting Crowns
“Mighty to Save” —Laura Story
“Hope Now”–Addison Road
“More Beautiful You” —Jonny Diaz
***There are MANY more, but that should get you started!
Next week….“How do I know the Bible will help me with recovery?” (Hint: 2 Timothy 3:16)
